River Point Behavioral Health Sponsors Infection Control Seminar For Healthcare ProfessionalsJACKSONVILLE, Fla. (May 27, 2010) – River Point Behavioral Health, a Psychiatric Solutions, Inc. (PSI) facility, recently sponsored the Progressive Prevention Seminar at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville on March 26. The event was presented by the Association of Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC). Approximately 80 health professionals attended the event, including internists, infection control nurses, risk/quality management representatives, staff nurses and allied health professionals involved in acute, long-term, home health and primary care practices. Attendees earned 5.5 Continuing Education Units for their participation. The focus of the seminar was to provide infection control and related healthcare information to assist professionals in recognizing, managing and controlling infectious diseases in today’s society. The Association of Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology is a nonprofit, international organization that seeks to influence and improve the practice and management of infection control. APIC’s mission is to improve health and patient safety by reducing risks of infection and other adverse outcomes. There are over 110 regional APIC chapters and more than 13,000 members worldwide.
